Gambling licensing in Bulgaria
Since August 2020 the National Revenue Agency has licensed and supervised gambling in Bulgaria, replacing the State Commission on Gambling. Online gambling requires an NRA licence for online betting; companies registered in the EU, EEA or Switzerland may apply. The NRA publishes a whitelist of licensed websites and a blacklist of blocked unlicensed sites.

Key licensee requirements
- Hold an NRA licence before offering online gambling to players in Bulgaria
- Keep central computer systems in Bulgaria, the EU, the EEA or Switzerland
- Send real-time game data to the NRA server
- Hold a player deposits account at a licensed EU/EEA bank
- Register and identify every player; no players under 18

2020 amendments
Closed the State Commission on Gambling and transferred its powers to the NRA; restricted gambling advertising.
