Gambling licensing in Czech Republic
Since 1 January 2017 the Gambling Act has allowed licensed online gambling in the Czech Republic, including for foreign operators with an EU/EEA seat and a Czech branch. The Ministry of Finance issues a basic licence for each type of game, and the Customs Administration supervises operators. The Ministry publishes a whitelist of legal operators and a blocking list of unlicensed websites that internet providers must block.

Key licensee requirements
- Hold a Ministry of Finance basic licence for each type of game offered online
- Have a seat in the Czech Republic, EU, EEA or Switzerland, with a branch in the Czech Republic
- Lodge a financial guarantee with the Ministry of Finance
- Identify every player and check them against the register of excluded persons
- No players under 18
Legislation and standards
Gambling Act (Act No. 186/2016 Coll.)
Main framework for licensing land-based and online gambling, player protection and blocking of unlicensed websites.
Gambling Tax Act (Act No. 187/2016 Coll.)
Taxes gross gaming revenue: 23% for lotteries, betting, bingo and live games; 35% for technical games (slots).
Register of excluded persons (RVO)
Players excluded voluntarily or by law must be blocked by every licensed operator.
